In a significant stride towards fostering advancements in the field of tropical parasitology, Genient Technologies actively participated in MAHATROPACON 2024. The event, organized by The Department of Microbiology at AIIMS Nagpur in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Tropical Parasitology and Vidarbha Association of Medical Microbiologists, unfolded on January 13th - 14th, 2024, with three pre-conference workshops on January 12th.

Themed "Clinical Parasitology: Thinking beyond Microscopy," MAHATROPACON 2024 addressed a diverse array of diseases prevalent in India, including Malaria, Filariasis, Amoebiasis, Hydatid cyst disease, Neurocysticercosis, and Hookworm infestations. Emphasizing the One Health concept, which underscores the interconnectedness of humans, animals, and the environment, the conference aimed to unveil the latest advances in tropical parasitology for the betterment of patient care.

The three pre-conference workshops, conducted in collaboration with the Government Veterinary College, Nagpur, and IMS Banaras Hindu University, delved into critical topics such as unraveling complexities in stool examination, transitioning from microscopy to molecular approaches in parasitology, and understanding parasitic infections in immunocompromised hosts.

Attended by over 300 Medical Microbiologists from Maharashtra and neighboring states, MAHATROPACON 2024 provided a comprehensive academic platform. Distinguished faculty members of national and international repute, including Dr. S.C. Parija, Dr. Tushar Nale, Dr. Sumeeta Khurana, and Dr. Rakesh Singh, shared their insights on various essential topics such as free-living amoebiasis, malaria parasites, neglected tropical diseases, and the one-health approach in parasitic diseases.

The conference also featured a quiz on Medical Parasitology organized by Dr. Meena Mishra, the Organizing Secretary and Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology at AIIMS Nagpur. Postgraduate students and senior residents had the opportunity to showcase their research through oral and poster presentations. Notably, the event recognized excellence with awards for the best poster, paper, and quiz winners, who were presented with trophies and certificates.

MAHATROPACON 2024 aimed to raise awareness about parasitic diseases, especially considering their significant impact on global health. The conference served as a platform for discussions on the latest research, diagnostic techniques, and the application of artificial intelligence in diagnosing parasitic infections, showcasing Genient Technologies' commitment to driving innovation in this critical field.
